Passing of Father Glenn O’Connor (1952 – 2019)

Fr. Glenn visiting the Pope

It is with much sorrow and sadness that we have to tell you that on Friday 15th March Fr Glenn O’Connor from Indianapolis Airport, passed into eternal glory.  Fr Glenn has been a long time member of IACAC and hosted the 2001 Annual conference in Indianapolis.  He was also the priest in charge of St Susanna’s Parish near the airport.  Please pray for his congregation, the chaplaincy team at Indianapolis Airport and his family. February 2019 Newsletter

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Yes, this is the February Newsletter, but sent out in early March so that we could include a report of the Executive Board’s meeting in Nairobi, Kenya.

Those who were at the Charlotte Annual Business Meeting will remember that the Exec. Board was mandated to work with the bidding Chaplaincy Team in planning the 2020 IACAC Conference in Nairobi, Kenya (the bid from Nairobi being the only invitation for 2020 received at that time).

A Message from our Treasurer

In 2009 I was elected Treasurer of this wonderful organization. It has been a great honor and privilege to get to know each and every one of you even better by being in this position on the board. I also have had the privilege to work with many different members of the Board and get to know and love them. This is my last year on the Board as I will be retiring and looking forward to my next adventure in life. So, I am asking each and every one of you to give your support to a new Treasurer to help the organization continue to grow.

January 2019 Newsletter

Happy New Year! (If January 1st is where you mark the beginning of a new year, of course). I could equally use the same greeting in February for Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese New Year, in March for those celebrating the new Hindu year – Vikram samvat, those Balinese Hindus observing Nyepi, or those celebrating Nowruz, the Persian New Year (originating in Zoroastrianism, but widely celebrated by those of different faiths across Western and Central Asia, the Caucasus, Black Sea Basin, and the Balkans). Or, we could wait until April for Vaisakhi, the Sikh new year and Songkran the new year festival in Thailand, Laos, and some other parts of Southeast Asia. Or, if your resolution fails midsummer, you can celebrate the Muslim new year in August or observe Rosh Hashanah in September with our Jewish brothers and sisters. Of course, maybe you never converted from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian – in which case I shall wait until March 25…!

“It was only multi-faith because I was there.” So said a UK colleague about their experience of a recent conference they’d attended.

It was a phrase that could be taken in several different ways, but as we look forward to our next conference in Melbourne (from Sunday 13 – Friday 18 October 2019), let’s hold that thought (whatever our faith tradition) for a moment…
